Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Founded on the belief that tradition should be shared with joy, we’re passionate about preserving the art of lion dance while creating a space where everyone learns, grows, and have fun together. Whether you're here to train, perform, or simply be part of something meaningful, you'll feel the strong bond that brings us together

Our Story

Established on 11th August 2000, Xuan Wu Dragon & Lion Troupe began as a heartfelt dream shared by a group of passionate youths united by their love for the traditional Chinese art of Southern Lion Dance. What started as a small team of dedicated friends has since grown into a tight-knit family, bound not just by culture and discipline, but by loyalty, friendship, and shared purpose.

From the very beginning, our goal has been clear: to preserve, promote, and pass on the beauty and strength of lion and dragon dance to future generations. That same year, we were proud to be officially registered with the Singapore National Wushu Federation, a recognition of our passion and commitment to the art.

Under the caring guidance of our mentors, Mr. Lim Chin Seng and Mr. Andrew Lim, our troupe took a bold step forward by entering the National Lion Dance Competition in 2003 marking our first major milestone. That experience forged not only skill but an unbreakable bond among our members, many of whom grew up together under the lion’s tail, training side by side like brothers and sisters.

At Xuan Wu, we are more than performers. We are a family growing stronger with each beat of the drum, each shared meal after training, and each performance where we proudly carry our culture on our shoulders. Through every challenge, we lift each other up, passing down wisdom and tradition like generations before us.

We welcome all who share our love for this cultural treasure whether you're looking to join as a dancer, support as a sponsor, or simply cheer us on from the crowd. Xuan Wu is home. And in this home, the lion never sleeps.
